- "What is your fee and do you accept insurance?" My standard fee is $125 for an individual and $160 for couples with a 50-min session virtually & in-person. I currently accept Aetna, Cigna, and Capital Blue Cross and you can easily verify your coverage with the button above. If you're out of network, I can provide detailed receipts for you to submit. I encourage you to check your policy's OON coverage by calling your insurer. - "Do you offer a free consultation?" Yes, because counseling is not one-size-fits-all, I offer a 15-minute phone call to hear your needs and see if we could be a good fit.
- "Do you offer sessions outside of the office?" I offer secure video sessions and walking sessions at nearby parks/trails.
- "What is counseling like?" My hope is that a counseling session is like sitting down with a friend except that you don't need to worry about my judgments or opinions. My interest is supporting you without putting attention on me, which can be hard to find in other relationships. You're invited to share whatever you like, whenever you like, in session. I work to help you tease apart issues and concerns in order to bring you clarity and confidence in your everyday life.
- "How long does counseling last?" It's up to you. The frequency with which we meet is also up to you. Meeting weekly or every-other-week is most typical, especially at the start. For some, counseling lasts a few months and for some it lasts for years. We can discuss what works for you and decide as we go.
- "I'm really nervous to start counseling, what should I do?" First, I congratulate you on taking the first step and looking through this website. Yes, it can be nerve-racking to initiate your first session and that is perfectly okay. The anxiety may be showing you that you know there is work to be done. Nervousness can be constructive, because it is like a little alarm bell telling you to pay attention to your needs. If it would be more comfortable, you are invited to send me an email or text and we can work to quell your nerves and answer your questions. Very often, people report that they feel much better after they make their first appointment, because they know that they have done something kind for themselves and that better times may be around the corner.
